On behalf of our Wicklow based client, Elk Recruitment is looking for an experienced professional Production Manager to join their team. Job Purpose: Supervise and control all production and technical activities in the Manufacturing Plant. To supervise, train, motivate and take appropriate action, when necessary, in the management of staff performance. Control materials in and out of the department. Principal Accountabilities: Quality. 1. Maintain high-quality levels while promoting a quality-focused culture among the staff. 2. Liaise with Quality department staff to ensure our own and customer standards arerealised. 3. Ensure all relevant documentation is filled out as per company procedures. 4. Maintain and promote high standards inhouse keeping. Productivity / Output. 1. Achieving production plan/targets on a continual base and hold daily production meetings. 2. Reduce or increase headcount to meet capacity requirements in conjunction with the Plant manager. 3.Prioritisework as changes occur throughout the shift period. 4. Record accurate production and scrap figures. 5. Reduce reject production levels and identify problematic processes. 6. Record and report any process issues/changes that may arise. 7. Ensure all materials/consumables required for production are in place and downtime is not caused as a result of absent materials or shortfalls. 8. Carry out thorough shift change over with outgoing and incoming shifts where appropriate. 9. Increase productivity through continuous improvement and lean techniques. 10. Set up clear process lines for product types. 11. Ensure weekly KPI’s are completed and analyze them with your team on a weekly basis, report to Plant manager on same. 12. Create a full Library of Work Instructions for all activities within the manufacturing process. Human Resources. 1. Maintain and promote a good working relationship between staff. 2. Promote a teamwork culture within the department. 3. Carry out performance reviews with your team. 4. Monitor and control absenteeism and late arrivals. 5. Ensure all operatives adhere to company health and safety policies procedures and instructions. Job Boundaries: Responsible for the safety and training of all staff within the department. Regular internal communication of departmental performance information. In conjunction with Plant manager hire and/or dismissal of staff where appropriate. Knowledge & Experience: Degree Qualified. Lean/Six Sigma. Basic Finance. SAP Experience. Personal Skills Required. Excellent interpersonal/Organisational skills. Strong leadership qualities. Able to take responsibility and work on own initiative. A proven ability to train and develop a teamwork culture. Technical Skills Required. A proven knowledge of process improvement. Preferably gained through a combination of education and work experience. Experience within a Manufacturing Environment. Basic computer skills.
