JOB TITLE: ICT Applications Analyst (Ref: ITAA/OP/1016. LOCATION: Teagasc, Head Office, Oak Park, Carlow. REPORTING TO: Applications Architect and/or other nominated manager as may be identified from time to time. POST TYPE: Permanent. SALARY: Appointment will be made at the Agricultural Development Officer Grade 1 with a starting salary of €31,729. Starting pay will be at the minimum of the scale as per Government Circular E100/8/82. Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government policy. BACKGROUND: The Teagasc ICT Department provides services to 50+ offices, and 1000+ employees, along with students and contractors, throughout the country. There are currently in excess of 2500 PCs deployed. The ICT infrastructure is largely standardised using Microsoft products, Dell PCs and servers and Adtran/Cisco communications equipment. In addition to this there are a small number of specialised servers running Linux/Unix. The Teagasc ICT Applications suite consists of over 25 business applications including 9 internet facing systems. The systems vary from client facing applications such as the e-Profit Monitor to administration systems such as Finance and HR systems. Teagasc engages external vendors to supply many of its ICT services, including application development. No programming is done in-house. The ICT Department has 17 staff members organised into four units - Applications Unit, Infrastructure Unit, Service Delivery Unit and Security/Continuity. BASIC FUNCTION: The successful applicant will be responsible for the identification and analysis of business requirements and the design, acquisition, integration, delivery, enhancement and support of ICT application solutions, including project management. The successful applicant will work in close co-operation with other business units in order to fully understand their operations and how ICT can support them. NOTE: This position requires occasional attendance outside normal working hours and some travel between Teagasc offices.
